Our Team

Grace is the project leader working on testing and development of  novel heat-storage materials for heating engine oil. She was born and raised in South Korea where she attended POSTECH and received BS in Chemistry. She spent a year in UC Berkeley and worked in the laboratory of Prof. Jeffrey Long to perform research in metal-organic frameworks. Then she pursued PhD in Chemistry at MIT with Prof. Timothy Swager, and her thesis mainly focused on the covalent functionalization of nanocarbon materials and on developing organic semiconductors for photovoltaics. Grace joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT as a postdoctoral associate with Prof. Jeffrey Grossman in 2015, where she explored various research areas including solar thermal fuels, 2D materials, and thermal storage. Grace joined the Department of Chemistry at Brandeis in July 2018.

Mihael.JPG

Mihael is working with Grace on the testing and development of  novel heat-storage materials for heating engine oil. He was born and raised in upstate New York where he received a B.S. in Chemistry at the State University of New York at Potsdam in 2016. During this time he research the safer synthesis of vinyl sulfones under Dr. Martin Walker. He is currently a 4th-year Ph.D candidate at Brandeis University working for Dr. Grace Han in the chemistry department. Mihael specializes in organic synthesis, purification, and the development of light-responsive molecules for use in 2D-materials and thermal energy storage.

Tim.JPG

Tim is a neuroscientist working at the intersection of computation, learning, and sleep. Following the principle that breakthrough scientific discoveries rely on breakthrough technologies, Tim spends his time developing software, genetic tools, and custom hardware to address scientific questions while also maintaining a flow of experimental data collection. In addition to doing lab-based research and development, Tim is a fellow in the Brandeis Science Communication Lab and a QBReC instructor. He earned a M.S. in Bioinformatics in 2006 and a PhD in Neuroscience in 2015.

Leiming.JPG

Leiming earned his B.S. degree in Chemistry at Peking University in 2012, where he studied transition-metal-catalyzed coupling reactions. He then joined Isaac Krauss's lab at Brandeis and received his Chemistry Ph. D. degree in 2018. As a member of the Krauss lab, He synthesized methyl-substituted cyclopropylcarbinyl boron reagents and tested them in various reactions. Leiming is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Krauss lab working on sulfur-substituted carbohydrate synthesis.

Kundan.JPG

Kundan is a 2nd year MBA student at Brandeis International Business School. He earned his B. Tech degree majoring in Electronics & Communication Engineering. He then joined Accenture as a Software Engineer where he worked with clients such as Telenor (Norway), Rogers Telecommunications (Canada), Orange (Spain) and helped them develop their IT and customer relationship management systems. He has got almost 6 years of Industry experience in the Communication, Media & Technology domain. He is majoring in Data Analytics and Marketing and is interested in the impact of Artificial Intelligence and Analytics in business.

Yuran Shi and Jennifer Taufan are undergraduate researchers in Dr. Grace Han's lab at Brandeis University working on the development of photo-active phase change material and prototype design.
